Stay provides housing and support services to homeless and vulnerable people in the area.
Stay recognises that housing someone only solves part of the problem and that support plays a very large part in someone’s journey to successful independent living. At any one time Stay is supporting around 50 people in our accommodation and over 600 in the community. Through their network of support and housing, Stay helps people to work through any issues relevant in their lives, identify their goals and aspirations, equip them with the skills needed to live independently, and help them realise their full potential. Stay believes that with the right help and support every person has the potential to thrive. Stay also operates a Homeless Outreach Service which meets with people where they are and provides a fast response to anyone homeless or at risk of homelessness. Over 300 people have been helped by this service so far and the demand for the service continues to increase each year. Previous Race Results

**Exciting News!!**
This year we will be joining a growing number of races making their events ‘single use plastic free’ which means there will be no carrier bags or bottles being given out.
We will be having compostable & biodegradable paper cups for you at the finish & you are more than welcome to bring your own bottles too.
Many thanks to thristybox.co.uk for their invaluable advice on the subject & for helping supply the cups for us

Previous Race Report
Hundreds of runners and spectators gathered at the Wrekin on Saturday for the 4th annual running of the Wrekin Relay challenge hosted by Wrekin Road Runners. Teams of three, made up predominantly of local club runners competed against each other to win prizes in the categories of male, female and mixed teams. The athletes set off at 2pm on the 3.8 mile loop of the Wrekin, taking on technical decent and two significant lung busting climbs, one half way through the route and the other killer climb up to the handover point. Competitors tagged their teammates before gathering their breath to receive a bespoke medal, a memento of the race.
Eventual winners in each category were Scott Hall, Carl Aveyard, Dom Jones representing Mercia Fell Runners and Shrewsbury Athletic Club in the male category, in a time of 1 hour, 13 minutes and 10 seconds. The ladies spoils were taken by Julie Jones, Amy Aldridge and Lauren Poole from Lawley Running Club in 1:41:03. Finally the mixed team again was from Lawley, winning in 1:24:21; a team made up of Craig Jones, Louise Morgan and Dan Turner.
The race has been popular since its inception in 2014 and this year proved no different. Louise from Team Evolve said: “As a competitor, the race ran like clockwork and the support from the marshals (and spectators) on the course was superb! Well done and thanks to all involved!”.
Race Director Phil Goodwin of Wrekin Road Runners was keen to emphasise the importance of the volunteers who gave up their time to ensure the race could run smoothly: “This is a tough race with competitors who really don’t want to let their team mates down. The support on the course and at race HQ is critical to making this an enjoyable event and more importantly a safe one. Thank you to everyone who contributed.”
The race also raises money for the Midlands Air Ambulance, a service that is solely funded by charity donations and wouldn’t exist without the various contributions from individuals and sporting events.

Car Parking: There is a small public car park at the Wrekin but we will be providing a large free race day car park a short walk away. Please use our race day car park to minimise disruption to local traffic and other visitors to the Wrekin. This will be signposted and marshalled on the day. Car sharing is encouraged to reduce our carbon footprint.
Registration and race numbers: Registration is about a 15 minute walk from the event car park. Registration will be open from 12.30 to 1.35pm. Race numbers must be collected from registration on the day.
The final day for making team changes online will be Sunday 7th July. This includes race order from your original team entry. If changes are necessary on the day, we would kindly request a £1 donation to our charity per name change. Please ensure you write your name and emergency contact details on the back of your number and add any important medical details.
All runners MUST wear a number securely pinned to the front of their vest/t-shirt. Numbers must not be cut, folded or mutilated. You will need 4 pins to make sure your number is securely attached.

Advice on preparing for an endurance running event can be found on the Runners Medical Resource website at www.runnersmedicalresource.com
Medical provision will be available to required UKA standards.
Race route and safety: The route is fully marshalled. It comprises undulating paths and tracks with plenty of tripping hazards (tree roots, loose stones, muddy puddles). You will need to be alert at all times during the race. Please be aware that the course is open to the general public, including walkers, other runners, dogs, cyclists and occasionally horse riders. They have full right of way.
The course will be marked and there will be marshals at all key points.
We highly recommend wearing trail shoes.
Warm weather warning: In the event of the weather being very warm, please see the advice on the
NHS Choices website www.nhs.uk/conditions/heat-exhaustion-heatstroke/
Water: If the weather is very warm we shall provide water halfway round the route. There will be water available at the finish line and of course available here for each lap as solo runners pass by. We are doing our best for the environment and will be using biodegradable cups and water dispensed from containers. You are welcome to bring water along with you if you would like it during the race. Please be mindful of littering and only leave empty bottles or gel packets where there are marshals.
Team hand over for each leg: There will be a changeover area and it is your responsibility to be ready when your team mate completes their lap. Please stay in the order that you have been entered on registration. There will be a race official to ensure that this is done correctly. As your team mate crosses the line, you will be able to start your leg of the race. We have timekeepers who will be recording your number and time, but they will not be able to tell you your time. This will be available when results are published. Solo runners will have their lap recorded and counted. Three laps will be required to complete the race.
Retiring from the race: Once you have collected your number from registration it will be assumed that you will complete the course and pass through the finish line. If for any reason you are unable to complete the race, please report to the nearest marshal. This is VERY important as we need to account for every runner at the end of the race. If you don’t cross the finish line then we will need to send out marshals to search for you! If you cannot complete your lap and you are part of a team, we will allow the next runner to take their turn but unfortunately your team cannot be counted towards the team prizes.
Prize giving: Every runner will receive a bespoke event medal. Main prize giving will be held at the Halfway House as soon as the results have been verified. This may take place before all teams have completed their final leg, which is normal for inclusive races with a wide range of abilities and paces. Full support will be there for everyone throughout ... this is a great race and each competitor deserves a big cheer as they finish!
Prizes will be awarded as follows: Teams 1st and 2nd All Male, All Female and Mixed teams. 1st and 2nd Male and 1st and 2nd Female Solo Runners.

You may wish to bring some cash for the day in case you decide to enjoy a well-earned snack.
